The Verkhovna Rada honored the victims of Holodomor 1932-1933 with a moment of silence at the special meeting on Friday, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
Tomorrow, on November 24, Ukraine will honor the memory of all the deceased in those tragic days in 1932-1933.
There were three Holodomors in the 20th century: 1921-1923, 1932-1933, 1946-1947. At the same time, only Holodomor of 1932-1933 has the status of a genocide. The events of 1921-1923 and 1946-1947 are qualified as mass starvation, the genocide character of which has not been proved.
Holodomor lasted for 17 months – from April 1932 to November 1933. The researchers have not officially decided on the number of victims: they name the numbers from 1,8 to 10 million. Most of the experts believe that 3-3,5 million people died of hunger.
