The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine created the temporary investigation commission of the parliament for investigation of the murder of Kherson Mayor’s Office employee Kateryna Handziuk and attacks on other public activists as 112 Ukraine reported.

347 MPs voted for the adoption of the proper bill #2302.

“The Verkhovna Rada orders: to create the temporary investigation commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for holding of the parliamentary control over the investigation of the attacks on Kateryna Handziuk and other public activists in 2017-2018,” the message said.

MP from the Servant of the People Ihor Vasyliv is appointed as the head of the commission.

The term of the activity of the commission is a year.

The commission should report about the work accomplished not later than six months since the day of its creation.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced the possible involvement of police in departure of Olexiy Levin - organizer of attack on Ukrainian activist Kateryna Handziuk.

On November 4, 2018, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment. 

Besides, the doctors specified the cause of death; it was due to multiple organ failure and chemical burns.

All the accused in case of Handziuk murder pleaded guilty. Later Pokrovsky district court in Dnipropetrovsk region has approved the agreements with the investigation team. Serhiy Torbin, Mykyta Hrabchuk, Viktor Horbunov, Vyacheslav Vyshnevsky, and Volodymyr Vasyanovych got their sentences. All were sentenced under the three articles of Criminal Code, namely 'deliberate grave bodily injury, planned and caused by the group of persons'.
