Ukrainian Parliament Committee on Health of Nation, Medical Aid and Medical Insurance has supported the candidature of Deputy Health Minister, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko at the position of the Health Minister.
Lyashko promised the lawmakers to hold 10 million vaccinations from coronavirus in summer, inoculating 5 million Ukrainian with two doses.
“I, Viktor Lyashko, at the position of the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine and candidate for the position of the health ministry, promise in summer period to hold vaccination by two doses of five million of Ukrainians, hold 10 million vaccinations at least, that is what I guarantee,” Lyashko said.
Moreover, the sanitary doctor noted that he is ready to provide the work plans for the first 100 days and the first six months after the voting at the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday. He added that the overcoming Covid-19 pandemic is the first priority task for the Health Ministry.
Meanwhile, Lyashko refused to name a person who will be the next chief sanitary doctor.
“There is such a candidate, you know him well; it is a well-known and professional person,” he said.
As we reported, the Servant of the People party nominated Viktor Lyashko for the post of Minister of Healthcare.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Maksym Stepanov from the position of Minister of Healthcare upon his own request. 284 MPs voted for the decision.
Zelensky’s team said this dismissal took place due to the problems with contracts on the supply of vaccines against coronavirus and careful attention to the minister from the side of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).
