The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Oleksiy Reznikov as the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine. 273 MPs supported the decision.

"To appoint Oleksiy Y. Reznikov as Minister of Defense of Ukraine," the resolution submitted by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky says.

Yesterday Reznikov was fired from the position of Vice Prime Minister - Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories, to which he was appointed on March 4, 2020.

In 2008-2014 Reznikov was the Kyiv City Council MP of the 6th convocation. Since June 2014 he became the Kyiv City Council MP of the 7th convocation. He was also elected Kyiv Deputy Mayor - Secretary of the City Council. Since April 2016 - Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration. From September 18, 2019, - representative of Ukraine in the working subgroup on political issues. From May 5, 2020 - First Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group.
