After the division of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports into two separate departments, the newly created Ministry of Youth and Sports was headed by the Olympic champion in fencing, official of the Kyiv City State Administration Vadym Gutzeit.
Vadym Gutzeit was born on October 6, 1971 in Kyiv. Married to Ukrainian journalist, radio and television host Oksana Gutzeit. Spouses raise two children.
At the 1991 Fencing World Championships, Gutzeit took third place in the individual performance and helped the Joint Team to complete the competition in second place. He participated in three Olympics - in 1992, 1996 and 2000. In 1992, as part of the Joint Team, he won gold medal.
Athlete was a coach of Ukrainian saber team, which won gold Olympic medals at the Beijing Games in 2008. Vadym Gutzeit is the president of the Fencing Federation of Ukraine.
Since 2018, he has been the director of the Youth and Sports Department in the Kyiv City State Administration.
In 2019, Gutzeit was a candidate for MP from the Servant of the People party (No. 81 on the list), but refused to take part in the race.
