Kharkiv Court has sentenced Lieutenant Colonel of the National Guard of Ukraine for 13 years of the imprisonment due to the accusations of the state treason. An officer passed the classified information about forces and equipment of the Anti-Terrorist Operation to Russia's FSB as the SBU reported.
'One of the district courts of Kharkiv recognized a man guilty in the commitment of the crime and sentenced him to 13 years in the prison and deprivation of the military rank - Lieutenant Colonel', the message said.
The National Guard officer was recruited by the representatives of Russia's FSB in September 2014 in Moscow during the non-authorized visit to Russia.
He passed the information containing state secret, particularly the information about forces and equipment of the Anti-Terrorist Operation through one of the messengers and e-mail to Russia.
The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the perpetrator in May 2015 at the place of his permanent dislocation in Kharkiv region. He also caused the injuries to the SBU officer during the escape attempt.
