National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine will not extend the ban for import of electricity from Russia and Belarus for November as Interfax reported citing the high-ranking source in the government of Ukraine.

This decision was made due to low coal reserves and the threat of a shortage of electricity.

“The regulator has already decided: it will not prohibit imports from Russia and Belarus for November. When in September a decision was made to ban imports for October, they said that this does not constitute a threat to the energy system and consumers, and in the future, we will be determined depending on the level of preparation for the autumn and winter period. You know what kind of coal reserves we have," the agency's source said.
