Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated that the Russian Federation continues to illegally increase its nuclear potential in the temporarily occupied Crimea, which undermines the non-nuclear status of the Ukrainian peninsula. This was reported by the press service of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry.
"The minister drew the attention of the conference participants to the threatening and illegal increase of Russia's nuclear potential in the temporarily occupied Crimea, which undermines the nuclear-free status of the Ukrainian peninsula," the statement said.
It is reported that Kuleba urged those present to consider the temporary occupation of the Crimean peninsula and Russia's armed conflict in some parts of Donbas as a threat to its military expansion to the east and south of the European continent.
In his speech, the minister noted the importance of the conference as a negotiating platform for the development of new political and legal instruments of arms control.
He assured that Ukraine was ready to take an active part in the development of the Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty (FMCT).
Earlier, National Space Center stated that Russia more than doubled military potential in occupied Crimea.
