The Ministry of Internal Affairs says there was an attempt to assassinate one of the ministers of the Ukrainian government. According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the suspects in the attempted assassination have been detained.
No details of the event have been disclosed yet. The Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrsky will provide details today at an urgent briefing at the Ministry of Internal Affairs at 18:00.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first case when the life of a government official is in danger. On September 22, the car of presidential aide Serhiy Shefir was fired at. The driver was injured, and the presidential aide was not hurt in the attack. The driver was able to park the car near the nearest supermarket and call an ambulance from there. The car was not armored, and Shefir did not have bodyguards.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact of shelling Shefir's car with the preliminary qualification "attempted murder of two or more people." Law enforcement officers are considering three main versions of the assassination attempt on Shefir: in connection with the public activities of the victim, in order to put pressure on the country's top leadership and in order to destabilize the political situation in the country. In particular, the version of participation of foreign special services is considered.
