Arsen Avakov, the Interior Minister of Ukraine has claimed that 'he is surprised and shocked by the statements of some international organizations', which criticize the special operation of the SBU on the staging of the murder of journalist Arkadiy Babchenko. He claimed this during the briefing at the police academy as 112 Ukraine broadcasted.
'Thank God, the Ukrainian special services have prevented the murder. And thank God, they decided to detain the perpetrator in such way. To put it mildly, I am and shocked by the statements of some international authorities. I think that in the future, the Ukrainian special services will not be guided by the public opinion to make our territory calm and prevent the attack at the person', Avakov noted.
He added that if there is such possibility to hold such operation in all resonance cases, the law enforcers 'will do this every day'.
At the same time, Sergy Kniazev, the Head of the National Police claimed that the police officers have worked up at this operation. No concerns were made by the state'.
On May 29 it was reported that Arkadiy Babchenko, a Russian journalist, was murdered in Kyiv. He was allegedly shot in his apartment. Ukraine’s police suggested that the murder of the journalist was connected with his professional activity. There were also reports on Russia’s connection.
Vasyl Hrytsak, the Head of SBU, at the briefing stated that the murder of Russian journalist Arkadiy Babchenko was ordered by Russian special forces. Ukrainian citizen was enlisted for that.
Earlier President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko claimed that he knew about the staging of Babchenko's murder. At the same time, the OSCE has condemned the fact that Ukrainian institutions spread fake information on the “murder” of Arkadiy Babchenko, a Russian journalist.
