Ukraine’s Honorary Consulate was opened in Hungarian Siófok on November 7. It included the participation of Plenipotentiary Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs of Hungary on relations with the Honorary Consul, as Lyubov Nepop, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Hungary, wrote on Facebook.
'[The localities of] Zala, Veszprém and Somogy will be within its competence,' the Ambassador wrote.
She also stated that she presented a consular patent and exequatur to the new Honorary Consul of Ukraine Zoltán Horvát.
Earlier, Foreign Minister of Hungary Péter Szijjártó claimed that Budapest has never had any plans to conquer particular areas of Zakarpattia region or to ensure its autonomous state, as Gazeta Prawna reported.
According to the minister, Hungary does not suffer from the 'Trianon syndrome' or has any angst for the lands, which belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire once.
'I always reject the accusations of revisionism. It is silly and false insinuations. I repeat one more time, we are not the revisionists', the minister said, answering the question of a journalist whether Budapest will decide to change the borders for the protection of the Hungarian minority amid the crisis in relations with Ukraine.
