Ukraine’s Health Ministry will prepare documents for summoning special commission to consider the need to declare measles epidemic in Ukraine, as Health Minister Ylyana Suprun said, 112 Ukraine reported.
“We have to summon a special commission to declare an epidemic. Till the end of this week we will gather all the documents so that we could gather this commission and discuss the question of the epidemic,” she noted.
Suprun reminded that when an epidemic is declared in the country, the Health Ministry had more power to purchase vaccine.
At the same time, she denied the stereotype that many people refuse to get vaccinated due to religious views.
“When we met with the Council of Churches, they assured us that none of the religions represented in the Council of Churches, bishops or religious leaders never call people not to get vaccinated. All of them agree, that vaccine is an important thing,” Suprun added.
As we reported, quarantine was announced in Lukyanivska pre-trial detention in Kyiv, because of a measles outbreak.
Earlier, the outbreak of measles was spotted among the personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine, assigned to Vinnytsia military unit. The first case of the sickness of measles was spotted before the New Year and now, the number of the diseased increased up to more than a few dozens. The National Guard does not have a specialized medical unit so the soldiers are hospitalized to the city hospital. Four soldiers receive the treatment at Khmelnytsky District Hospital.
