Ukraine’s Government decided to recognize Russian passports invalid in two passport offices in Rostov region, as Vadym Chernysh, Ukraine's Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs, told the journalists, Ukrainian News reported.
“The order of the Cabinet of Ministers was adopted, it provides passport offices set by the Russian Federation starting from some dates set in the order. Since the decision was made, all the documents issued by these bodies will be recognized invalid,” he said.
Minister explained that passports would be “filtered” under the body that issued it.
“This is easy to define. Each passport has information about the body which issued it and the code. These two settlements were defined – Pokrovskoe village and Novoshahtinsk, Rostov region,” he added.
Chernysh noted that on May 8, the Government decided to recognize passports issued by Russia for Ukrainians who live on the temporarily occupied territories in Donbas illegal and invalid.
In particular, according to him, Ukraine’ Government will react to illegal issuance of Russian passports.
As it was reported earlier, Russia wanted to facilitate the process of obtaining Russian citizenship for the residents of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics after presidential elections in Ukraine. Putin’s decree was required for that.
First center for issuing Russian passports to Luhansk residents opened in Rostov region.
Russian forces, which were deployed in Donbas have been paying efforts to speed up the process of issuing Russian passports to Donbas residents under the simplified procedure.
