Ukraine's Government to recommend Naftogaz to provide citizens with free counters

According to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, gas suppliers are responsible for the installation of the counters

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will recommend Naftogaz-Ukraine to provide all the households in Ukraine with fuel counters, as the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said during the Government’s meeting, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.

“I have noticed that there were households without the counters. Whose responsibility is it? Those who supply are responsible for this. Today we will decide to recommend Naftogaz-Ukraine to provide all the Ukrainians with free counters,” he said.

The Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining of Ukraine will control the implementation of this recommendation.

In November 2018, the Supreme Court repealed the norms of gas consumption set by Ukraine’s Government in 2016. Therefore, consumers without counters had higher norms of consumption.

On January 30, PM Volodymyr Groysman stated that the Government intended to decrease the consumption norm to 3,29 cubic meters per person.
