The Cabinet of Ministers has approved two documents in accordance to which the procedure of purchase of new drugs and vaccines is simplified. The purchase will be held without extra barriers as Ukraine’s PM Denys Shmygal reported.
The proper documents enable to hold direct negotiations with producers of original innovative drugs for their purchase
“This tool is used by such advanced countries as the U.S., the UK, France, Poland, Italy and others. We expect that the parliament supports the legislative changes that would launch this process,” Shmygal said.
The PM added that the vaccination from coronavirus will start in Ukraine in February.
On December 4, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported draft law No. 4314 on accelerated access to the vaccine against Covid-19. 270 MPs voted in its favor.
The document proposes:
- shortening the time frame for approving clinical trials and conducting state registration for vaccines or other immunobiological drugs for prevention of coronavirus disease;
- extension of the term of the Law of Ukraine No. 539-IX, which provides for similar provisions for medicines for the treatment of Covid-19 until the end of lockdown established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Earlier, Denys Shmygal stated that Ukraine is getting ready to sign or has already signed contracts for the supply of more than 30 million doses of coronavirus vaccine.
