Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin says the detention of Saakashvili is an internal case of Ukraine and will be seen as such by Ukraine’s Western partners, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
“It’s Ukrainian dispute: do your thing, but do it legitimately. It’s that easy. Maybe to some, it is unusual, but formal reaction – there will be none because western society understands how it should be done. And every time we say that we have a European society, European country – it means the rule of law,” Klimkin said.
As we reported earlier, on Friday night the enforcement officers detained ex-governor of Odesa region Mikheil Saakashvili and took him to the Security Service department, where he was placed in a detention facility. He is accused of supporting a criminal group.
