“By 90%, the energy system of Ukraine is ready for holding of the heating season. Over 18 billion cubic meters of gas were pumped in the gas storages and it makes the largest percentage during the past 10 years averagely for this period, before the beginning of the heating season,” PM reported.
He also noted that according to Naftogaz, the increase of these supplies is expected up to 19 and more billion cubic meters of gas.
In general, the annual consumption of gas by population and industry in Ukraine makes about 22-23 billion cubic meters per year.
“A little bit more than 13 billion cubic meters is the inhouse extraction Ukrainian of Naftogaz and Ukrainian private companies. In fact, all this gas is consumed by the population. The population consumes about 14 billion cubic meters, a little bit more, 5-10% more than the inhouse extraction,” Shmygal noted.
On September 12, Naftogaz CEO Yuriy Vitrenko stated that Ukraine has accumulated more reserves in its underground gas storage facilities than the Cabinet of Ministers had planned - and this is in the face of rising prices for blue fuel.
Earlier, Head of Ukrtransgaz Serhiy Pereloma stated that the necessity of the use of the underground gas storages in Ukraine will increase in case of the drop of the gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transporting system or its absence.
