The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has checked 1, 319 shopping malls, hospitals and schools and found more than 15, 000 violations as Mykola Chechotkin, the Head of the Emergency Service reported.
‘Since March 30, 2018, the check of the public places such as shopping and entertainment malls, schools and pre-school establishments, hospitals with in-patient treatment. More than 30, 000 of such objects must be checked, 4, 000 of them are shopping malls, almost 2, 000 hospitals and more than 25, 000 schools and kindergartens’, he said.
According to Chechotkin, more than 2, 300 workers of the Emergency Service were involved in the oversight activities.
‘At the moment, 1, 319 are checked, including 937 schools and pre-school establishments, 56 hospitals with in-patient treatment and 326 shopping and entertainment malls’, Emergency Service Head said.
He emphasized that more than 15, 000 violations, including more than 5, 000 were rectified for a long time, were found.
‘The worst situation is in Donetsk, Sumy and Ternopil regions where more than 60% of the offered measures are not assumed. Totally, 1, 200 administrative penalties were imposed against the directors of the facilities; the lawsuits for the closing of 37 facilities, including 16 shopping malls, 18 schools and pre-school establishments and 3 hospitals for the violation of the fire safety requirements were filed to the court’.
On March 28, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman ordered Interior Ministry, State Emergency Service and other bodies to begin the large-scale check of the schools, kindergartens and other public places for fire safety.
