The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine urged the direction of the Bogomolets National Medical University to organize the classes for the students who do not want to participate in the university’s strike and do not use the administrative resource as the press service of the ministry reported.
‘The students of the Bogomolets National Medical University were deprived of the opportunity to continue the education by the administrative way, through the closing of the buildings. The Education Ministry, as the main central executive body responsible for the education and science, thinks that the disruption of the educational process that takes place by the administrative way in the Bogomolets National Medical University that is in the management sphere of the Health Ministry’, the Education Ministry claimed.
According to the ministry, the students claimed that they ‘saw the closed buildings with the chains and confused lecturers when they came for the classes to the universities’. In the result, even the students who wanted to learn could not get the proper serviced from the establishment.
‘The students also claimed that the strike was announced without the consideration of the opinion of both students and labor collective’, the ministry claimed.
The Education Ministry that the conditions for the normal educational process should be created for the students who want to learn. The students cannot and they should not suffer from any conflicts, including the administration argues.
The Ministry of Education and Science also reminded that article 44 of the Constitution of Ukraine clearly determines that anybody can be forced to the participation or non-participation in the strike.
The Education Ministry appealed to the direction of the university with the demand to fulfill their commitments and renew the educational process, creating the conditions for the education of the students who want to learn.
As we reported the students and the labor collective of the Bogomolets National Medical University of Ukraine called the termless strike since February 26. All academic buildings will be closed, excluding the hospitals were the patients get the treatment.
The strike committee demands from the president to immediately interfere in the situation and from the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament and the prime minister to ‘immediately create the commission on the investigation of the malversation by the direction of the Health Ministry’ and ‘to temporary suspend Ulana Suprun, the acting Health Minister from the duty for the time of the investigation and also to suspend her deputies from the duty’.
They also demand from Suprun to annul the order on the deprivation of Kateryna Amasova, the rector of the Bogomolets National Medical University, the appointment of Mykhailo Zaharash as the acting rector and to immediately provide the holding of the integrated license examination ‘STEP-1. Dentistry’.
The Health Ministry of Ukraine suspended Kateryna Amasova, the rector of the Bogomolets National Medical University from the duty on February 20. The decision was made due to the so-called disruption of the obligatory integrated license examination ‘STEP-1. Dentistry’ for the third-year students.
Amosova thinks that she was suspended due to her refusal to commit the illegal actions, particularly to spend the funds without a tender. According to her, the disruption of the testing was made artificially and the university could not transfer the funds to the Testing Center of the Health Ministry without a tender.
