The main priority of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine is the increase of the defense capacity of the country as 112 Ukraine reported citing Ukraine’s Defense Minister Andriy Taran.

“In my opinion, the main thing is to ensure the high defense capacity of the country, the capacity of the Armed Forces to properly respond to the attacker, such one, to make the aggressor lose the desire to test the power of our fighters. I have expressed the words of gratitude to the military who silenced еру anti-tank guided missile which foully fired at our vehicle yesterday and caused the deaths of people,” Taran said.

The newly-appointed minister underlined the importance of high-quality weapons for the army. He noted that it is a problem yet for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the army needs the technological upgrading, in other words, to switch to the modern weapons system with the use of the latest technologies.

Taran emphasized the necessity of the well-designed program of the development of the armament instead of inconsistent purchases ‘to patch the old holes’.

“I would like to turn the whole Defense Ministry towards the military servicemen. We have a lot of soldiery professionals, from a soldier to a general, at all levels, but we need the whole army to be professional, really professional. And we need further meticulous and persistent work of the Defense Ministry and the military command of the Armed Forces,” Taran added.

On March 4, Ukraine’s parliament appointed Andriy Taran as the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine. You can read more about Andriy Taran here.
