The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) at the meeting scheduled for February 26 plans to consider issues related to the de-occupation of Crimea, sanctions and the state of cases of high treason. This was reported on the NSDC website.
It is noted that the National Security and Defense Council will consider behind closed doors the draft "State Strategy for De-occupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol."
In addition, the National Security and Defense Council members will discuss the following issues:
- urgent measures to counter threats to national security in the field of citizenship;
- the state of investigation of cases of high treason, desertion and terrorist activity, violation of the oath;
- application of sanctions.
Earlier, on February 16, the Security Service of Ukraine announced suspicion of high treason to the famous blogger and politician Anatoliy Shariy. According to investigators, Shariy carried out illegal activities to undermine Ukraine's national security in the information sphere.
In addition, on February 2, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the imposition of sanctions on 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZіK TV channels. According to the decree, which came into force from the moment of signing, sanctions were applied to TV channels for five years. It provides for blocking the broadcasting of all three TV channels.
After the closure of the TV channels, the head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine said that the decision of the President of Ukraine was the authorities' attack on freedom of speech. In addition, Zelensky's decision was condemned by a number of European politicians and the media.
112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZiK TV channels regard the imposition of sanctions as a political reprisal against objectionable media.
