Ukraine’s Autocephalous Orthodox Church terminates its existence

Ukraine’s Autocephalous Orthodox Church terminated its existence as of July 29, 2019, through reorganization, in particular, it joined a religious organization of Orthodox Church of Ukraine, as the Unified State Registry and state outlet Voice of Ukraine reported.

A notification about the decision on termination of a legal entity was revealed on the Unified State Registry website. It reads the following:

- Religious organization Patriarchate of Ukraine’s Autocephalous Orthodox Church terminates its existence by reorganization, in particular, by adherence;

- Pavlo Semanchuk, Vitaliy Danchak, and Vasyl Shlapak were elected the members of the liquidation committee;

- Vasyl Shlapak is the Head of the committee;

The term of requirements announced by the creditors – up to October 03, 2019.

It should be noted that Patriarch Filaret appealed to Justice Ministry and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with a request to prolong registration and protect the rights of Ukraine’s Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate.

Later, Patriarch Filaret filed a lawsuit after Ukraine’s Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate was withdrawn from registration.
