Ukraine will discuss the impossibility of holding elections in Donbas at gunpoint during the meeting between Foreign Ministers in Normandy format. This was reported by President Poroshenko during his visit to Ivano-Frankivsk, broadcast by “112 Ukraine” TV channel.
“In a spontaneous discussion which arose lately with our partners, we clearly stressed once again that political provisions of Minsk agreement can be realized only after obvious and objective security progress. Holding elections with Russian military and soldiers around polling stations is absolutely unaccepted and impossible action. Pavlo Klimkin will take this into account when he goes at the Normandy meeting with Foreign Ministers next week,” he said.
As it was reported earlier, Ernst Reichel, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine, claimed that holding elections in the occupied territory of the Donbas region is possible even without withdrawal of the Russian military units from there.
A little later, People's Deputy from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Olexiy Goncharenko painted fragment of the Berlin Wall, which is located at the German Embassy in Kyiv, in protest against the remarks of Ernst Reichel’s remarks.
