Ukraine intends to provide humanitarian aid to Lithuania in the form of barbed wire to equip the Belarus-Lithuania border. A relevant presidential decree was approved at a meeting of Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, this decision is made due to an appeal of the Lithuanian side regarding the current critical situation on its frontier with Belarus.
Particularly, there is an abnormal increase of illegal migrants from Belarus.
"The Lithuanian side lacked technical means for equipping the border, so it turned to Ukraine with a request to provide humanitarian aid in the form of barbed wire to strengthen the border," Kuleba pointed.
The barbwire amount mentioned in the draft text of the decree is still unknown.
As it was reported earlier, the Lithuanian government announced that a wall worth more than 40 million euros would be installed on the border with Belarus.
