Ukrainian inspectors will check military units of the Russian army located on the territory of Rostov region.
This was reported by the "Interfax" agency, referring to the Defense Ministry.
"The Russian Federation has agreed to this inspection," the agency quoted chief of the Russian National Center for Nuclear Risk Reduction Sergey Ryzhkov.
According to him, "the area, specified by Ukraine is located in the Rostov region and covers an area of about 16 thousand square kilometers."
According to him, Ukraine "asked the Russian Federation to hold an inspection of specified area on its territory in the framework of Vienna Document 2011 on confidence-building measures and security."
Such activities are carried out in order to determine the extent of military activities in a specified area, which are subject to prior notification (or confirmation of the absence of such a notifiable military activity). During the course, inspectors are to receive briefings from commanders of military formations and units located within the specified area, the report said.
"Briefings by commanders contain summary information about the structure and tasks of the subordinate military units," Ryzhkov said.
