Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to transport 150 billion cubic meters of natural gas and export 5 billion, as Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion said in the government meeting today.
“(To increase) the load of Ukraine’s natural gas transmission system for the needs of consumers in the European Union to 150 billion cubic meters per year. This number may seem strange to someone, but I want to draw the attention to the fact that the need of natural gas in Europe will remain stably high until 2050,” he said.
According to this strategy of energy development, Ukraine is planning to increase the extraction of natural gas to fully covering the country’s needs and creating the possibility of exporting 5 billion cubic meters before 2035.
Kistion also said that he intends to work on creating a so-called an Eastern Europe natural gas hub, as well as increase the extraction of gas to 35 billion cubic meters.
