The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine plans to hold the Crimean summit with the participation of the Russian side. The holding of the summit is planned for 2021, as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing First Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova.
“The goal (of the Crimean platform, - 112.international) is to systematize current events. The issue is about the resolutions, statements, declarations that we have and which are important from the point of view of non-admission of worse scales of the repressions in occupied Crimea but also the new initiatives, particularly, a Crimean summit planned for 2021 in Ukraine,” Dzhaparova said.
According to her, the summit should take place on an ongoing basis and the invitation to join the platform is open for all countries that see its feasibility.
“We believe that this summit should be permanent; it is the initiative of Ukraine and, respectively, the invitation from Ukraine. As for today, the Foreign Ministry develops the number of the countries that will join this initiative,” the message said.
Dzhaparova specified that the Crimean platform should cover a few dimensions, particularly: the highest political level (the leaders of the states, top officials of the states), the level of the foreign ministers, defense ministers, parliamentary level and expert level.
It is noted that Ukraine considers a few dates for the holding of the summit – one of them is February 26.
As we reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell discussed the creation of a negotiation platform for the liberation of Crimea.
