On September 20, the Chief of the National Police of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine Johannes de Mol signed an agreement between the two countries on the privileges and immunities of liaison officers sent by Kyiv to Europol. This was reported by the press service of the National Police.
The agreement is aimed at regulating the issue of security guarantees and protection of Ukrainian liaison officers during performance of their tasks in Europol. Its implementation will allow sending police officers to Europol in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine # 494 from May 22, 2019.
It is expected that this will strengthen cooperation between Ukraine, Europol and the Member States of the European Union in preventing and combating international crime in the framework of Kyiv's commitments in European integration.
Earlier, in 2017 the employee of the Ukrainian Bureau of Interpol and Europol of General Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv headed criminal group and kidnapped the person, and also stole his money.
It is also known that on March 8, 2018, the European Council appointed Belgian Catherine De Bolle as Executive Director of Europol.
