Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak stated about the intention of Ukraine to achieve the summit of the Normandy Format leaders on the settlement of the Donbas Conflict before the end of the term of German Chancellor Angela Merkel as he stated during the Svoboda Slova TV show.
“The consultations in the Normandy Format continue, in the format of the video-conference and real meeting between different sides…We work today on holding meetings of the Normandy Format leaders until the end of Merkel’s cadency. We believe that it would be very fair because she did a lot for it,” Yermak said.
He explained the aspiration to hold the Normandy Summit with Merkel by the fact that among today’s leaders of the Normandy Format there are two witnesses who remember and were present during the signing of the Minsk Agreements.
“That is why it is very important for us that such meeting should take place soon,” Yermak added.
Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel noted the stagnation in the Normandy format and called for the resumption of meetings within its framework.
