Ukraine has issued more 5 thousand orders for violating its ban for carrying out flights to the annexed Crimea. The Russian airline companies were fined for more than 28 million dollars, reports UNIAN citing the State Air Service of Ukraine.
More than 1 thousand criminal cases against Russian Aeroflot were initiated. The carrier performed daily flights from Sochi to Simferopol.
At the same time the Air Service does assert that the taken measures do not help penalty payments forward by the Russian airlines.
“They haven’t paid a penny yet,” the Air Service says.
Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014 after an illegal referendum, whose results were never recognized neither by Ukraine, nor by the world community. Russian authorities believes that the Russian sovereignty is applicable to the territory of the peninsula.
