Health Minister Maksym Stepanov believes that Ukraine should purchase another five million doses of coronavirus vaccine in order to fully provide the population. He told about this on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.
According to the minister, so far Ukraine has contracted 42 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
"In general, if you look at the number of doses that we have contracted, together with COVAX we now have 42 million doses of vaccines that have been signed. These are all this year supplies. And we need about five million more doses," Stepanov said.
He also noted that negotiations are underway to increase the supply of Novavax vaccines from India and Sinovac from China.
"Now we are deciding on the timing of deliveries. There will be enough money. All vaccines will be delivered in full in 2021," the head of the Ministry of Health assured.
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the provision of humanitarian aid to India. The President signed the corresponding decree No. 186/2021 on Friday, May 7.
"In order to help overcome the consequences of the emergency with the spread of acute respiratory disease Covid-19 in the Republic of India ... I decree: to provide humanitarian aid to India," the document says.
