The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine ordered State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine to improve the conditions of the selection of the representative of Ukraine for Eurovision as 112.ua reported.
“The special attention of the Ukrainians was focused on Eurovision song contest; it was connected with the demands of the general public toward the impermissibility of the participation of the artists, who tour at the territory of the state-aggressor or do not recognize the territorial integrity of Ukraine, in the final. In the results of the debates, we (the government,- 112.international) should: amend the rules of the selection for the Eurovision song contest and ask the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the law on the peculiarities of the holding of the concerts and tours of the Ukrainian singers at the territory of the state-aggressor,” Kyrylenko noted.
Due to this, Vice Prime Minister submitted the offer on two governmental orders.
“The State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine along with the National Television Company of Ukraine should provide the improved rules of the selection of Ukraine’s representative for the participation in Eurovision song contest, considering the circumstances, which caused the wide public resonance during the national selections in 2019,” Kyrylenko said.
Moreover, he offered to appeal to the Verkhovna Rada with the request to consider the draft law on the peculiarities of the holding of the concerts and tours of the Ukrainian singers at the territory of Russia.
As we reported singer Anna Korsun (Maruv) would not present Ukraine at the song contest “Eurovision 2019”. Maruv said that she was forced to refuse from the participation in the contest from Ukraine due to her tour in Russia.
“I am ready to refuse from performances in Russia. I have answered all the questions the jury had on air. I have not visited Crimea since 2014. I have not violated any law of Ukraine. Besides, I am ready to assume all the costs related to participation in the international contest,” she stated.
Maruv won the Ukrainian national selection for Eurovision and should perform with Siren Song in the first semi-final of the Eurovision, which will take place on May 14. Her performance was planned for the second half of the show.
Besides, STB Channel stated that the rules of the national selection for Eurovision do not contain demands on the absence of the tours in the Russian Federation. It also added that only the National Television Company of Ukraine can decide who will present Ukraine during the Eurovision.
On February 26, Freedom-jazz girls band, which got the second place in the national selection for Eurovision song contest, refused to participate in it. Later, Kazka band, which took the third place, also refused to present Ukraine at Eurovision.
