Ukraine’s Embassy to Italy condemned opening of the so-called “DPR’s (Donetsk People's Republic, - ed.) representation” in Verona and sent a protest note to Italy’s Foreign Ministry, requests to prefecture and questorship of Verona, as the service reported on Facebook.
The Embassy protested against anti-Ukrainian provocations directed at undermining of the pan-European position in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. The legal status of this “representation” is being defined.
Ukrainian community in Italy and many Italian partners of Ukraine, who support our state, are outraged by another anti-Ukrainian rally of the local pro-Russian politicians of Verona.
“Those who know Zoccatelli, the “leader” of this fake “representation” were not surprised he took part in this rally: he was the leader of the Regional Committee for Independence Veneto,” and since the beginning of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, he became an ardent “promoter” of the links with temporary occupied Donbas,” the Foreign Ministry reported.
Earlier, it was reported that the so-called “representative office” of the Donetsk People's Republic was opened in Italian Verona.
Zoccatelli said that he personally repeatedly visited the "conflict zone."
"Our task will be to disseminate truthful information about what is happening in Donbas, which is still ignored by the official media. Our goal is to draw public attention to the problem that remains unresolved. We regularly send our delegations there, including with the participation of the Italian politicians," he said.
