Ukraine has refused to purchase electricity from the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė said this the during a briefing.

"We believe that we should thank the Prime Minister (Denys Shmygal) for the support, as Ukraine has refused to buy electricity from the Belarusian nuclear power plant," Šimonytė said.

According to her, Europe hopes that Ukraine will abandon dangerous suppliers and will move to the European trend of "green energy".

In February, the European Parliament called to halt the launch of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in Astravets due to fears related to its safety. The resolution clarifies that the Belarusian NPP is located only 50 km from Vilnius, and is close to other EU countries - Poland, Latvia and Estonia.
