Ukraine has reached a compromise with UEFA on the Ukraine's national football team's kit for Euro 2020. For the period of the tournament matches, one more element will appear in addition to the previously approved design of the uniform of the national team. This was announced by UAF President Andriy Pavelko on his Facebook page.
According to him, UEFA agreed to take into account today's decision of the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) and asked for time to further study this issue after the end of Euro 2020.
"For the period of the tournament matches with the previously approved design of the uniform, one more element will be added on the inside of the jerseys. This is a large emblem of the national teams with a map of Ukraine, a trident and one more inscription "Glory to Ukraine" approved by the UAF executive committee this morning. The slogan "Glory to the Heroes!" will be placed behind the map, in the center of the outlines of the borders of a united Ukraine, and I believe that it will become a real talisman for our guys," he wrote.
Pavelko also noted that Ukrainian players will have such a unique design of the uniform exclusively for Euro 2020.
As it was reported, before the start of Euro 2020, the technical sponsor of the national team of Ukraine, Joma, presented a new team uniform. The map of Ukraine and slogans "Glory to Ukraine!" and "Glory to the Heroes!" were used in the design. The new uniform caused a very violent reaction in Russia because Ukraine was depicted together with Crimea on the map. The Russians sent a request to UEFA in protest, but the organization said that everything was fine with the design.
UAF Head Andriy Pavelko went to Rome to hold talks with the UEFA. Besides, the UAF made a decision to make "Glory to Ukraine! – Glory to the Heroes!" slogan the football symbol of the team.
