The Ministry of Health of Ukraine predicts a new wave of coronavirus at the end of this month, chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin stated in an interview to BBC.

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Health, the next outbreak will begin in late January.

"According to our forecasts, the next surge will be from the end of January. There will be more Omicron at this time. The peak will be in February with a gradual decrease until April," Kuzin said.

He noted that the duration of the new wave will depend on the effectiveness of anti-epidemiological measures and the number of people who will receive a full course of vaccination or a booster dose.

As it was reported, according to chief infectionist honorary doctor Olga Holubovska, Ukraine is going to face another outbreak of Covid-19 incidence.

5,429 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Ukraine during the past 24 hours, on January 10. Particularly, 306 children and 168 medics got infected.
