Ukraine, Poland sign declaration guaranteeing minorities’ rights to study native language

Minister of Education of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych and her Polish counterpart Anna Zalewska signed the declaration guaranteeing minorities’ rights to study their native language at schools and be taught in it for the Polish diaspora in Ukraine, according to Polish Radio.

Anna Zalewska said the declaration confirms the previous agreements between the countries.

“There’s an unambiguous statement that both parties guarantee the citizens of Ukraine in Poland and Poles in Ukraine study the native language, as well as study in it,” she added.

Previously it was informed that Ukraine and Poland intended to sign a declaration stating the main principles of implementing the language article of Ukraine’s education law for Ukrainian schools that educate in the Polish language.
