The scientists state that the territory of Ukraine passes into the zone of ultra-high temperatures and extreme weather. During the next 30-40 years, the country faces desertification of immense territory as the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported.
“According to the scientists who follow the climate changes, Ukraine is passing to the zone of ultra-high temperatures and extreme weather,” the message says.
The ministry noted that in the next 40 years, Ukraine faces the threat of desertification of immense territory.
According to Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Roman Abramovsky, for Ukraine, the fight with desertification and land degradation is one of the priority directions for state ecology policy.
It is noted that within this direction, the ministry approved the National actions plan to the fight against land degradation and desertification until 2025, as well as it created the proper Coordination Council.
As we reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the preservation and restoration of forests. Under this program, a billion trees are to be planted in three years.
Besides, Zelensky signed the law on ban of the sale of plastic bags in all points of trade and services from 2022.
