Ukraine has passed to the European Court the lists for imposing new sanctions against Russia. They concern the violation of human rights in Crimea and Donbas by Russia; Liviy Bereh reported that, citing Ukraine’s Representative at the EU Mykola Tochytsky.
Besides, Tochytsky noted that the EU has recently confirmed the sanctions mechanism for violation of the human rights.
“I can tell you that it would be quite effective. The work is held on lists that the Ukrainian side has passed. They concern the violations by Russia of the human rights in Crimea and in Donbas. I believe it will be one of the important elements within the Crimean Platform,” he said.
Earlier, Ukraine filed a new intergovernmental complaint against the Russian Federation due to the organization of a number of high-profile assassination attempts and assassinations, both on the territory of Ukraine and on the territory of the member states of the Council of Europe. This is the ninth statement filed by Ukraine against the Russian Federation.
In addition, on January 14, the European Court of Human Rights ruled on the claims of Ukraine against the Russian Federation on violation of human rights in the temporarily occupied Crimea, which recognized the case of Ukraine against Russia as partially admissible and proceeded to consider the case on the merits.
