During the week (April 7-13, 2021), Ukraine passed the peak in the number of new Covid-19 cases per day. At the same time, a decrease in the number of deaths from Covid-19 can be expected next week. This was reported by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS).
"Although the official statistics may be slightly distorted due to the irregularity of entering outdated cases, the dynamics of the total number of positive PCR tests indicates that the plateau period has passed and a decline has begun," the message says.
For fatalities, the peak period has not yet been overcome, but a decline in deaths can be expected next week.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal stated that government does not consider the introduction of strict quarantine all over Ukraine, despite the difficult situation with the spread of coronavirus.
“The situation with coronavirus in particular regions remains to be tense. At the same time, we observe a decrease of the number of new cases and hospitalizations in some regions. It is another evidence that the adaptive quarantine introduced by the government is an effective tool. As we have said, there is no sense to close the whole country for quarantine,” Shmygal said.
