“Ukrainian society is not ready for a calm conversation about Russia. But we cannot move beyond geography; it is necessary to understand it,” Kuleba stated.
According to him, considering the fact that this issue raises many grounded emotions in society, it has the sense to hold only closed discussions on this issue. The politicians are restricted in the statements due to the risk of rating losses.
“The society has a lot of emotions to talk about Russia so any person who talks about it will be marked as traitor or devotee. However, it is a very necessary discussion. Without a strategy toward Russia, there will be no security or prosperity of Ukraine,” the foreign minister is sure.
He also noted that soon, the efforts of the Foreign Ministry at Russian direction will focus on the development of the Crimean platform. It should keep the issue of Crimea’s release from the Russian occupation on the international agenda. A sufficient number of state has already intended to participate in this initiative.
Earlier, it was reported that the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine plans to hold the Crimean summit with the participation of the Russian side. The holding of the summit is planned for 2021.
Besides, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine would create the Crimean Platform to protect the rights of Crimean citizens and de-occupy the peninsula.
