Ukraine participated in the largest ever New York LGBT-parade, which was held on June 30, as Ukrinform reported.
One of the participants of Proud Ukraine organization Dmytro Pichakhchi told that the idea of Ukraine’s column in New York parade appeared long ago, but this year they decided they have enough people for that. 20-30 people were supposed to join the column, yet around 50 gathered. Pichakhchi said that “it was important for Ukrainian LGBT-community to march separately from the other countries of post-Soviet space except for Georgia”.

The organizers claimed around 150,000 participants of the parade. Over 4 million tourists arrived to see the event. Madonna performed a concert at the end of the celebration. It was the largest LGBT-parade ever.
Stonewall Inn bar was the compulsory stop for the participant. In 1969 (50 years ago) a police raid against homosexual people occurred there. This event triggered the movement for the rights of LGBT-community in the U.S.
