Ukraine is ready to pass 23 Russian prisoners to the Russian Federation for 23 Ukrainian political prisoners illegally detained in the Russian prisons. Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova claimed this as 112.ua reported.
"We are ready to take the detained citizens on the extradition procedure. And the Russian Federation refuses in this. We strive to take them through the political agreements. We are ready to pass 23 Russians convicted in Ukraine for the preparation of the terrorist actions, espionage and military actions to the Russian Federation. In the exchange of 23 Ukrainians in the Russian prisons," ombudswoman claimed.
Denisova waits for Russia's response to the offer to unblock the process of the hostages and political prisoners' release.
Earlier Ukraine claimed about the readiness to pass 23 people to Russia to release Oleg Sentsov who is on the hunger strike and other political prisoners of Kremlin but Russia did not respond.
On June 26, Council of Europe Secretary General Thurbjørn Jagland has officially filed for the pardon of Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov to Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, Kremlin responded that this letter cannot be a ground for the release of Sentsov.
