The Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture has approved the Procedure and special requirements for food labeling, for which the indication of the country of origin or place of origin is mandatory. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
"The order is based on the requirements of EU acts and is another step towards our European integration and the creation of a common food market with the European Union. This will also allow to reduce the possibilities for forgery and falsification of food products," Deputy Minister Serhiy Hlushchenko said.
The procedure establishes the rules for entering the "country of origin" or "place of origin" in the labeling: beef, fresh, chilled or frozen; fresh, chilled and frozen pork; fresh, chilled and frozen lamb and goat meat; edible offal of cattle, fresh, chilled or frozen; meat and edible offal of poultry; honey; crude olive oil and extra-class olive oil.
"The procedure will be applied to the labeling of the above-mentioned food products produced in Ukraine or imported (shipped) to the customs territory of Ukraine, at all stages of their implementation," the ministry said.
