"Finally, Ukrainians will fly from Kyiv to the main air gate of Great Britain - London Heathrow Airport. Negotiations with the airport administration are completed. The first flights will be in a month," he wrote.
According to the press service of Ukraine International Airlines, it will open flights to London Heathrow from December, 17. At the same time, UIA will continue flights to another airport in the UK capital - Gatwick.
UIA plans to operate flights to Heathrow Airport three times a week on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday whilst still operating to London Gatwick Airport on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Thus, the airline will be able to operate the route with a frequency of six, and on New Year's holidays seven times a week.
Heathrow Airport is considered one of the world's leading airports. The main advantage is that the airport is located in a densely populated area with developed infrastructure, so it takes only 15 minutes to get to the city center.
As we reported earlier, Ukraine International Airlines reduced 900 employees due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company has already suffered losses of 60 million dollars.
One month of downtime cost the airline 14.5 million dollars, so UIA was forced to reduce its staff.
