Ukraine intends to ensure negotiations with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin as Livy Bereg reported citing Serhy Shefir, the First Assistant of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“We want to reach a normal negotiations process with Russia. For it, we need to make the first step. Peace should be established. Any war ends with negotiations. But without loss of territory from our side! We have already agreed on the ceasefire, disengagement of forces but the main thing is to begin to talk. We are looking for a possibility to reach the talk on equal terms,” Shefir said.
According to him, Putin shows that he “does not owe anything' to anyone”; however, Kyiv has confidence that Zelensky “will achieve these negotiations”.
“By all his actions and during the speeches, the president says that he is ready for the negotiations”, Shefir said.
On July 11, Kremlin reported the first phone conversation between President Volodymyr Zelensky and President Vladimir Putin. The talk took place upon the initiative of the Ukrainian side.
