Ukraine intends to engage US experts in increasing security of ammo depots, - Muzhenko

Cooperation between the Ukrainian and US Armies was also discussed

Ukraine is interested in engaging US experts in order to increase the security of ammunition depots and arsenals, Head of General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces Viktor Muzhenko said in a meeting with US Embassy to Ukraine Senior Defence Official and Defence Attaché Col. Thomas Wofford, according to the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

“The Chief of General Staff also underscored the interest of the Ukrainian party to involve US experts in activities aimed at strengthening the security of ammo depots, bases, and stockpiles,” the statement says.

Apart from that, the parties discussed bilateral military cooperation, as well as reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the context of receiving material and advisory assistance from the US Government. 

“The Ukrainian Army demonstrates progress in reforms and transition to the NATO standards due to the support provided by the US advisers, which includes training of the Ukrainian soldiers conducted by US instructors,” Muzhenko stressed.

The issue of ammo depot security is important after the large-scale fire and explosions that occued at Kalynivka ammunition depot
