In the center of Kyiv, on Sofia Square, the installation of the main Christmas tree of the country and the holiday town on the eve of the New 2022 began, Telegraf reports.
The tree will reach a height of 31 meters.
In addition to the Christmas tree, a Christmas nativity scene will be set up on Sofia Square, which is set to become a European record holder. An appearance of a real fair town, various photo areas and, importantly, skating rinks for fans of this type of recreation are also expected.
The previous length of the garland, which will decorate the Christmas tree, reaches 10 kilometres.
In total, it is planed to spend from UAH 25 to 27 million ($919,000 to $993,000) to install the tree. At the same time, funding is allegedly taken not from the city treasury, but from sponsors and patrons.
The opening of the country's main Christmas tree is traditionally scheduled for December 19.
As it was reported, a large festive location "Christmas in Podil" will be open in the capital’s district from December 19 to January 23.
