Ukraine’s government exempts import of test systems for Covid-19 detection from VAT

The Cabinet of Ministers extended the list of goods imported in Ukraine that are released from value added tax (VAT) as Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal reported.

“We strengthen the possibilities of the medical system. We made another decision aiming for simplification of the importing into the territory of Ukraine of medicines that are used for counteraction Covid-19,” Shmygal noted.

It is expected that this decision will increase the access of the hospitals to medication and medical products used for the fight against coronavirus disease.

Moreover, the government extended the list of goods imported in Ukraine that are released from value added tax (VAT). The issue is, first of all, a test system for detection of Covid-19 and equipment for laboratory diagnosis.

“The strengthening of the Ukrainian laboratories will allow to increase the number of conducted tests,” the head of the government added.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine exempted imported Covid-19 vaccines from VAT. The following medicines are exempt from taxes: Levofloxacin; Cefoperazone and beta-lactamase inhibitor; Cefotaxime; Cefotaxime, combinations; Cefepime; Immunoglobulin; Ceftriaxone, combinations; Cefditoren, Vaccines (vaccines against Covid-19 acute respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2).
