Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine claimed on the agreement with the European Commission achieved at the 'Eastern Partnership' summit on the allocation of the macro-financial support for Ukraine in 2018-2019. He claimed this at the briefing broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
'We agreed that the European Commission will release the communiqué on the ambitious project on the macro-financial support for Ukraine the next week. Three tranche is the same volume and we begin the work in January 2018. I hope that these agreements will be implemented in the near time and we wait for the communiqué from the Chairman of the European Commission the next week', Poroshenko said.
The President claimed that they agreed to not disclose the sum of the support.
'We have the agreement to not disclose the numbers because we are informed, we agreed that the volume will be as the third tranche in the volume of the fourth', the president added.
On March 16, the European Commission agreed that the 600 million Euros-worth tranche would be assigned to Ukraine. Considering this loan, the overall amount of the EU assistance to Ukraine makes 2.8 billion Euros (since spring 2014, when the EU began rendering macroeconomic aid to this country). Thus, now it is the largest volume of the macroeconomic assistance ever sent to the non-EU member country.
